Alterations

Avoid disappointment over the way your gown fits you on your special day. The alterations on your beautiful wedding gown or special occasion gown is the last step in creating a true custom fitted garment.

For your convenience and peace of mind the following will take place once you have retained our services:

1. Make an appointment for your first consultation which consists of the following:

  • Try on the dress with the proper undergarments and shoes (that you will be wearing on your wedding day.
  •  Jill will evaluate the fit of the dress and pin any alterations that need to take place. The most common alterations are: The hem of the gown, the hem of the slip in the gown and bustling the train.
  • We will discuss additional alterations necessary for the best custom fit possible.
  • We will discuss accessories that may be needed such as intimate apparel, petticoat, veil, additional embellishments on gown such as beading, detachable trains, shawls or sashes.
  • Once the alterations have been determined an invoice will be written and a 50% deposit is required.
  • Your next appointment will be scheduled at a convenient time.

2. At the second appointment you will try on your gown to view the custom fit.

  • At this point we will "tweak" the gown if necessary. You will then set up your pick up date and time for the gown which is usually 2 or 3 days before the wedding. On some occasions, the dress may be picked up a week or two before the wedding. At this time you should bring the person with you who will be responsible for bustling your dress at your reception. A lesson will be given to her at that time.

Gown Preservation

Protect your wedding gown and pass along a precious heirloom. Each gown is evaluated before cleaning and the best process for that particular gown is used. All processes are safe, gentle and done by hand. After inspecting your gown, the anti-sugar treatment is adjusted according to your gown's composition- a vital step in preventing yellowing due to sugar staining from cake icing, wine, body oils, etc.

Your gown will be carefully packed into a box shaped chest. You are able to see your gown through the display window, and the chest can be opened anytime. The gown will be protected with acid free tissue paper. You will enjoy its beauty and the memories of your wedding day for years to come.
