Mission Statement

It is the mission of Jill Bates Fashion Design & Sewing to provide women with the best custom fit possible and the highest quality workmanship on their wedding gown or special occasion gown..

Giving to the Community

Jill is the founding member of the Rochester ASG (American Sewing Guild) and founded and participated in NNR (Nuptial Network of Rochester).

She is a financial contributor to community athletics and was an emcee for St. John of Rochester Fashion Show.

 

Jill has helped provide several weddings.
Her donations include garments and alterations for the following: 

1. 98 PXY contest give away “Cold Feet Wedding”.
2. Contest Give away to a military couple for “4 B Maid”.
3. Charity for a couple with Downs Syndrome.
4.Warm 101.3 Bridal Contest

 

In 1992 she organized the professional group “Stitchers for Networking and Brainstorming”. 

In 2006/2007 Jill donated services to Miss Greater Rochester Contestants.

 

Internships

Jill Bates Fashion Design & Sewing offers an ongoing internship program for school and college credit.
Requirements: Must be able to use Microsoft Office and have some sewing skills. Graphic design and photography skills a plus.

Great internship for fashion design and merchandising majors.

Duties include:
Updating website and blog, answering phones, office work, minor alterations, display work, helping with various charity events and fashion shows, and more.

You’ll learn about:
Buying from wholesale supplies, line sheets, advanced sewing and design methods, running a fashion business.
